The LP-2™ has been designed to be used with any guitar or bass effects pedal or device that needs a boost or cut when activated. The external pedal connected to the SEND/RETURN must be permanently "ON" as it will be bypassed by the Footswitch in the LP-2™(LED off). For example, it can be used to compliment the early Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress™ pedal, which has an inherent loss of output when in Flange mode.

The LP-2™ INPUT features our world class unit gain buffer and line driver type LD-1™. The SEND is isolated and ground lifted. The RETURN features our well established variable gain stage with gain variation from -16dB to 0dB (unity) to +16dB. The footswitch alternates between bypass (LED off) and loop (LED on) and in active mode the RETURN signal from the external effects pedal is sent to the OUTPUT with any boostor cut that has been added by the RETURN GAIN control. No gain boost is applied to the SEND feed, which is at guitar level and so should not be used for signal matching to Line Level equipment such as rack effects etc.

During development I realized that this unit could be used for other purposes:

1. With the main amplifier connected to the OUTPUT, the SEND (being groundlifted and permanently active) can be used to simultaneously feed a second amplifier without creating ground loop hum. With the LED lit the amp connected to the main OUTPUT will be boosted or CUT by the Return Gain control but the amp connected to the SEND will still be receiving signal.
2. As the RETURN is high impedance (identical to the INPUT) it may be used to connect a second guitar in addition to the first guitar connected to the INPUT. Switching the LP-2™ on (LED lit) the second guitar will be routed to the OUTPUT and as a bonus this (second) guitar may have it's signal level increased or decreased using the RETURN GAIN control. Switching the LP-2™ off (LED off) the second guitar will be mited and the first guitar connected to the INPUT routed to the OUTPUT without any gain boost applied. This function is ideal for matching lower output guitars to a higher level one connected (which should be connected to the INPUT.
3. I have fitted an automatic internal bypass circuit between the SEND and RETURN so if no external pedal is connected the full variable gain range of the RETURN can be accessed by activating the footswitch (LED lit). This gain range is +/- 16dB.

Easy battery replacement via ‘drawer’. The battery is switched on when you insert the “INPUT / PWR ON” jack and to ensure long battery life unplug this lead when the unit is not in use. If the unit is not to be used for a long length of time we recommend that you remove the battery. Preferred battery type is MN1604.

Also fitted is an input for a DC adaptor: the size of the connector is M2.1 and the tip is negative (-VE). The voltage rating of the adaptor should be fully stabilized at 9V and capable of supplying 20mA. We recommend the use of the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus as meeting the above criteria and cannot accept any liability for damage caused to this unit by the use of , or to, any other type AC/DC adapter. If only a single unit is to be powered the BOSS PSA series may be more cost effective and is also recommended.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This unit is dual voltage compatible. The voltage of the DC supply does not affect the Boost Gain.
Using a 9vDC adapter: the performance will be identical to when battery powered. Using a fully smoothed and regulated AC/DCadapter with an output voltage of 24vDC Maximum and capable of supplying 20mA, the signal performance of the unit will be as shown below. Please do not use an adapter with a higher output voltage than the specified 24Vdc maxumim, or of reverse polarity as it may damage the LP-2™. An adapter with an AC voltage output should NOT be used, as it will permanently damage the LP-2™. Damage caused by the use of the incorrect adapters mentioned above will not be covered under the terms of our warranty.

WARRANTY DETAILS:

This unit has been built using the finest available components and constructed to the highest standards but should any fault occur during the twelve months from date of purchase please return it post paid to the above address where under guarantee repairs of any original manufacturing fault will be carried out (normal wear, misuse, unauthorized modifications or accidental damage excepted).

The warranty does not apply to customer's own equipment, which has been connected to this unit.

This warranty is not transferable.
